Muller levels from the spot
Vancouver drew level in the 76th minute. Yevhen Cheberko caught a runner inside the area, the referee pointed to the spot, and Thomas Muller buried the penalty. The German has settled fast into MLS and punished LAFC’s lapse.
LAFC pushed for a winner. Son curled a free kick in the fifth minute of stoppage time, but the Whitecaps wall blocked it and his follow-up cleared the bar. The teams shared the points.
Leagues Cup next for LAFC
The draw leaves the two contenders tied at the summit out west. LAFC now switch focus to the Leagues Cup, hosting Liga MX side Chivas de Guadalajara at BMO Stadium on Wednesday. Vancouver stay in the race at the top after matching the conference pacesetters on their own turf.
