Brissett gets his number, and the QB1 job
Jacoby Brissett wanted a better deal, and he got one. The Arizona Cardinals reworked his contract over the weekend, handing the veteran a one-year package worth a reported 15.5 million dollars guaranteed, with room to climb toward 21 million.
The timing was not random. Brissett had skipped most of the offseason program while the two sides argued over money, his old deal carrying just 1.5 million in guarantees. He showed up for mandatory minicamp, then reported on time for training camp, and the paperwork followed.

A starter, not a stopgap
Coach Mike LaFleur has pointed to Brissett as the likely Week 1 starter, which reframes the whole standoff. This was not a backup squeezing the team for a raise. It was a projected QB1 making sure his pay matched the role.
At 33, Brissett has bounced around the league long enough to know how these things work. He has started games for several teams and rarely leaves an offense exposed. Arizona wanted that steadiness locked in before the real work of camp began.
What it does not change
The deal buys one season, nothing more. It is a reworked contract rather than an extension, so Brissett heads for free agency again once the year ends. For now, both sides got what they needed, and the Cardinals can turn their attention to building around him.
