WNBA : Dominique Malonga joins Gabby Williams at the All-Star Game !

French basketball will be well represented in Chicago. After Gabby Williams was named a starter, Dominique Malonga was called up on Tuesday to take part in the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game as a reserve. At just 20, the Seattle Storm center has landed the first All-Star nod of her young career and underlined that she already belongs among the league’s biggest names.

Taken with the No. 2 pick in the 2025 Draft, Malonga wasted little time making herself at home in the United States. Game after game, the French star has become one of the Storm’s main threats, averaging 15.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks this season. That kind of consistency has now earned her a ticket to the most prestigious showcase on the calendar.

A rise that no longer surprises anyone

This selection rewards several months of steady progress. Dominique Malonga had already turned heads in her rookie season, before kicking on again in 2026. Her presence around the rim, defensive impact and all-round scoring touch have made her one of the Storm’s must-watch players.

Her huge outing against the Dallas Wings a few weeks ago is impossible to ignore too. Even in defeat, she produced the best performance of her career with 37 points, 12 rebounds and 2 blocks. That display put her name firmly among the season’s standout performers.

Two French players on the stage

The All-Star Game will therefore have a French feel to it. Gabby Williams, rewarded with a spot in the starting five, will meet Dominique Malonga in Chicago on 25 July. A strong showcase for French basketball, which keeps producing players capable of mixing it with the WNBA’s elite.

Among the other reserves named are Nneka Ogwumike, selected for the 11th time in her career, Angel Reese, Jonquel Jones, Jackie Young and Kelsey Plum, although her participation remains in doubt after an ankle sprain.

At just 20, Dominique Malonga has already added a major line to her resume. And on the evidence of how quickly she has adapted in the United States, this first All-Star selection may be the first of many.
