Liam Rosenior officially in the Paris FC dugout

Done, signed, sealed, official. Liam Rosenior is the new Paris FC head coach. The Englishman, who arrived quietly in Paris last Thursday, took time to tour the Orly training centre before putting pen to paper. It is a two-year deal, plus an option for a third, with his first day set for July 9, when the squad returns as a group.

The capital club had been waiting on one final piece of paperwork from Chelsea to wrap things up. That arrived on Tuesday, July 7, with an official statement confirming the English coach will stay through June 2028.

A warm welcome at Stade Jean Bouin and on social media

In a club video filmed at Stade Jean Bouin, Rosenior did not hide his excitement. “I am very happy to be the new Paris FC coach. I cannot wait to get started alongside the players,” he said, before adding that the Paris project would tempt any ambitious coach. It summed him up neatly: “It is a fantastic project. I could not say no.”

Of course, a new arrival means someone has to make way. Antoine Kombouare has now bowed out, with the club paying tribute to him on social media. Paris FC thanked the former boss and his staff for their work and wished them well for what comes next. A clean break, handled without the usual mess and drama football often serves up.

The third man of the Arnault/Red Bull era

Rosenior is the third coach since the Arnault family and Red Bull took control of the club, following Stephane Gilli and then Kombouare. It underlines Paris FC’s intent to build something bigger, even if that means changing the face in the dugout more often than most.

At 41, the Englishman arrives with a CV that carries weight. He has worked at Strasbourg and Chelsea, so he knows the demands at the top and the pressure that comes with them. That should at least give comfort to a club aiming well beyond simply staying up in Ligue 1.

A staff still taking shape

For now, Rosenior has travelled with his usual inner circle. Justin Walker and Kalifa Cisse will be his assistants, while Ben Warner will handle video analysis. A solid core, but not yet the full set-up.

At Strasbourg, the English coach was used to leaning on a number of extra staff members, including specialists in data analysis. The final make-up of his Paris staff still needs to be confirmed over the next few days. Rosenior has already met several members of the current backroom team who are still under contract, to see who might stay on for the ride.

One name already looks set: Mickael Boully is expected to remain as goalkeeping coach, according to our information. Useful continuity in a dressing room that will have to adjust quickly to yet another change in approach.

A new chapter begins on Thursday

The next marker is Thursday, when collective training resumes. That will be Rosenior’s first chance to put his ideas onto the training ground at Orly and start stamping his style on a squad that will need to adapt fast. Paris FC are into a new chapter, with the stated ambition of growing again under fresh leadership.
