In Golden State, the clock is ticking louder by the day. The Warriors know the Stephen Curry window will not stay open forever, and the franchise appears ready to swing big to give its icon one last shot at a title.
According to Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo Sports, the Warriors have a wild idea: bring LeBron James and Anthony Davis together in the Bay Area. It sounds like something cooked up by a fan, but it also tells you how far Golden State is willing to go to build one last roster capable of taking on the best in the NBA.
The Warriors are looking to trade Jimmy Butler’s contract for Anthony Davis, then sign LeBron James, per @KevinOConnor
That would leave the Warriors with a Big Four of Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Draymond Green, and Anthony Davis.

The idea is simple enough on paper: pair Curry, LeBron, Davis, Draymond Green and Steve Kerr’s system. A team of legends, a mash-up of experience, talent, playoff scars and Olympic miles. Basically the NBA’s own version of The Expendables, with each player bringing whatever he has left for one more run at glory.
Anthony Davis at the center of the plan
To pull this off, the Warriors would first need to convince the Washington Wizards to part with Anthony Davis. And that is where things get a lot messier. The main piece in the deal would be Jimmy Butler, who is on roughly $57 million for the final year of his contract, but is also recovering from an ACL tear and expected to miss most of next season. Golden State would also have to add draft picks and protections to get Washington to move on from Davis.
The Warriors do have some real ammo, with two future first-round picks and four possible pick swaps. But even with that kind of stockpile, there is no guarantee the Wizards would say yes.
WOW…LES WARRIORS AIMERAIENT RÉCUPÉRER LEBRON JAMES ET ANTHONY DAVIS CET ÉTÉ 😳
C’EST CE QUE NOUS APPREND @KevinOConnor DANS SON DERNIER PAPIER !
LE PLAN :

Washington is no longer just thinking about a full reset. The franchise wants to get competitive again too. With young talent like Alex Sarr, Kyshawn George, Bilal Coulibaly, Tre Johnson and, of course, AJ Dybantsa, the plan is starting to take shape. The arrival of Davis, plus the recent four-year, $212.8 million extension for Trae Young, shows the Wizards want to build something real. Not just wait for tomorrow, but try to win now.

The LeBron James file, the final piece of the puzzle
Even if Golden State lands Anthony Davis, there would still be a massive hurdle: convincing LeBron James. When free agency opens, the future of the four-time NBA champion will be one of the summer’s biggest sagas. The Warriors could try to offer him a reduced deal, likely around the mid-level exception, to make the numbers work.
But would he take a pay cut to join a new project? That is the question. For LeBron, it is not just about money. It is about which team gives him the best chance to win another ring. With Curry, Davis, Green and Kerr, Golden State could make a very strong case. Especially now that the Los Angeles Lakers’ future looks increasingly built around Luka Dončić. LeBron still has not received an offer from the Lakers and is expected to explore other options such as the Warriors, the Heat or even Cleveland.
A Curry, LeBron, Davis trio that would rattle the NBA
On paper, it is hard not to be fascinated. Stephen Curry remains one of the greatest shooters in history. LeBron James keeps beating time. Anthony Davis, when healthy, is one of the most dominant big men in the league. The issue, as always, is health.
Stacking stars is not enough anymore. They have to be available when it matters. And that is exactly the gamble Golden State would be taking. The Warriors no longer have the luxury of waiting. After building a historic dynasty, the franchise is now chasing one last surge before an era comes to an end.
Golden State wants to try the impossible before the Curry era ends
Making this happen would be brutally difficult. It would need a deal with Washington, a yes from LeBron, the financial puzzle solved and a big bet placed on players who are still elite but also getting closer to the end.
Still, one thing looks clear: the Warriors do not want this ride to end quietly. They want a swing. A huge one. Something worthy of Stephen Curry, the greatest player in their history.
