Paris FC: Kombouare on the way out, Rosenior clear favourite to replace him
It is over for Antoine Kombouare at Paris FC. According to Daniel Riolo on After Foot on RMC, the coach, appointed in February to replace Stephane Gilli, will not be in charge next season despite a comfortable survival and an 11th-place finish. A contract extension had initially been on the table, but the talks eventually tired out the club’s hierarchy. “Antoine Kombouare’s demands, as he wants more money, dragged on for so long that they wore the board down and that is that,” Riolo said on Sunday night.
His successor is almost set. “It should be Liam Rosenior, who is the clear front-runner,” the journalist added. The Englishman is close to returning to Ligue 1 just months after leaving Strasbourg in January 2026 to join Chelsea, a club also owned by BlueCo. His spell in London ended quickly, with the axe falling as early as April. Paris FC and Chelsea share the same owner, which makes talks between the two clubs far easier.

Regragui in the mix, but Riolo had a different choice
Rosenior was not the only name in the frame. Talks were also held with Walid Regragui, Morocco’s head coach, with two or three meetings organised, according to Riolo. But it is the Englishman who is leading the race for now. Daniel Riolo said he would personally have preferred to see Regragui in the Paris dugout, feeling his profile fit the Paris FC project better.
Paris FC head into the summer window with big ambitions and Bernard Arnault’s backing behind them. Landing an experienced Ligue 1 coach would send a clear message to the rest of the division. Rosenior already knows French football from his spell at Strasbourg, even if that ended abruptly. Another shot in Ligue 1, this time in the capital, for a coach who will need to prove himself fast.
