The Atlanta Hawks are out. They lost Game 6 to the New York Knicks. It happened at home, and the final margin on the scoreboard was 51 points. Jalen Johnson spoke about the result, saying the defeat will fuel their work for next season.

Atlanta’s season split into two distinct parts. Trae Young played the opening stretch, then picked up an injury and the front office approved his departure. The club then brought in fresh faces. CJ McCollum and Jonathan Kuminga joined the group. Atlanta earned direct qualification for the first round of the playoffs. Head coach Quin Snyder backed the move to a new system.

The front office’s recruitment policy

General manager Onsi Saleh laid out the club’s plan. The front office has no intention of making major changes this summer. This group has only been together for three months. Stability is the main target. Atlanta wants to give the current players more court time and judge where they stand over a full season.

The roster already has a strong crop of young talent. Jalen Johnson, Dyson Daniels, Zaccharie Risacher, Asa Newell and Onyeka Okongwu are part of that core. The club is only planning to add two 19-year-olds. Big spending on new signings is off the table.

Contracts and the learning curve

The front office still has a few issues to sort out. CJ McCollum’s contract is nearing its end. Zaccharie Risacher’s minutes dropped sharply in the final weeks of the season. The French player saw very little action in the playoffs.

Changes to the roster will be limited. Dyson Daniels explained the players’ mindset. This team is moving through the development process step by step. The final games gave the group valuable experience. They now know the level of physicality the playoffs demand.
