Rennes v Lille promised a scrap — and it delivered. But it was Lille who walked off with all three points after a solid, controlled display in spells. A 2-1 win at Roazhon Park lifts LOSC to fifth, while Rennes’ fine run grinds to a halt.

Lille lands a blow inside the first seconds
The match hadn’t even settled when Lille struck.
In the 2nd minute Fernandez-Pardo pounced on a perfect pass from Ngoy, timing his run on the offside line to beat Brice Samba. A lightning opener that shoved Rennes straight onto the back foot.
Genesio’s men were compact and organised after that. Solid at the back, tidy in possession, the Lille side dominated the first half and really should’ve doubled their lead before the break.
Haraldsson makes it two
Same script after the break. Again, Lille struck early.
From a corner poorly cleared by Rennes, Fernandez-Pardo became the creator, teeing up Haraldsson who drove home with his right for Lille’s second in the 47th minute.
Back against the wall, Rennes finally answered. Just before the hour Lepaul pulled one back with a well-placed finish after a slick team move.
Suddenly the game was back in the balance.
Rennes presses, Lille stands firm
In the final half hour Rennes threw everything at it. Mahdi Camara thought he’d equalised, only for Nathan Ngoy to intervene at the last moment and keep Lille out.
Rennes kept pushing late on. Despite attacking changes and one last chance for Camara at the death, the score never moved.
Lille held on.

Genesio still believes in Europe
The win lifts LOSC to fifth and puts them right back in the European race.
After the game Bruno Genesio praised his group’s reaction.
The Lille boss hailed the players’ resilience and spirit, while reminding everyone the season is far from over.
Rennes left licking their wounds
Frustration was the mood in Rennes.
Franck Haise admitted mistakes proved costly against a seasoned opponent. He pointed to poor positioning and defensive misalignments as crucial.
Valentin Rongier said the same — Rennes just couldn’t get around Lille’s compact central block.
Now the aim is simple for Rennes: take the hit, regroup quickly and kick off a new positive run.
