NBA: Brandon Ingram bossed it, Toronto stuns Phoenix in crunch time

Phoenix looked in control for most of the night, but the Raptors found the grit to flip it in the fourth. Fueled by a red-hot Brandon Ingram, Toronto won 122-115 and snapped Phoenix’s four-game streak.

In a raucous Scotiabank Arena, the Raptors showed toughness. Down by ten entering the final quarter, they ripped the game back with a killer finish.

Brandon Ingram takes over

When Toronto needed someone to step up, Brandon Ingram answered. The wing poured in 36 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, hitting tough shots and slicing to the rim while the Suns looked to be running the show.

RJ Barrett also played a key part with 22 points, while Emmanuel Quickley added 17. Scottie Barnes and Ja’Kobe Walter chipped in 14 and 12 points respectively.

That collective effort handed the Raptors a big win after two straight losses.

Phoenix thought they’d done the hard part

For long stretches the Suns looked in charge.

Jalen Green was electric with 34 points, tying his career best with eight triples. Devin Booker added 31, backing up a hot streak after his 43-point outburst against Indiana the night before.

With eight minutes left, Phoenix still led 105-95 and looked set for a fifth straight win.

But the game suddenly flipped.

Toronto’s decisive run

The Raptors ripped off a 13-2 burst that turned everything on its head. RJ Barrett’s three with just over three minutes to go blew the roof off the arena and put Toronto ahead.

The Suns tried to answer — Royce O’Neale hit a long one — but Phoenix’s offense then sputtered.

In the final minute Scottie Barnes produced the defensive play of the night, blocking Jalen Green on a dunk attempt, and Barrett raced the other way to slam it home.

Different runs collide

For Toronto, this win breathes life into a team coming off two losses and still hunting consistency this season. The Raptors host Detroit on Sunday, hoping to follow up this bounce-back.

For Phoenix, it’s a bitter night. Even with Green and Booker cooking, the Suns let a winnable game slip through their fingers.

Next up: a tricky trip to Boston on Monday.

And one question hangs: how did they lose a game they seemed to have wrapped up?
