When Anthony Edwards gets hot, few teams can hang. Friday night in San Francisco the Timberwolves guard put on an offensive clinic to steer Minnesota to a solid 127-117 win over the Golden State Warriors. A massive display that snaps a three-game skid for the Wolves.
With 42 points, eight rebounds and five assists, Edwards controlled the game from tip to buzzer, reminding everyone why he’s one of the most explosive players in the league.
Edwards takes control
Minnesota needed a shock after a string of ugly losses, including a heavy defeat to the Clippers. Edwards flipped the switch.
The Wolves’ guard was clinical: 13-of-22 from the floor, a perfect 12-for-12 at the line, constantly attacking Golden State’s defense. Every shot came at the right moment, especially when the Warriors sniffed a comeback.

Next to him, Rudy Gobert manned the paint with 18 points and 9 rebounds, steadying Minnesota when things tightened up.
Second quarter that flipped it
The game swung before halftime. After a tidy opening, Minnesota suddenly went up a gear in the second.
After a Kristaps Porzingis bucket for Golden State, the Wolves ripped off a brutal 17-4 run, sparking momentum that hung over the rest of the night.
Minnesota took the quarter 38-20, building a lead the Warriors never truly clawed back from.
Warriors too depleted to rally
Golden State battled, but absences bit. Draymond Green was ruled out just before tip with a back issue, and Stephen Curry remains absent.
The Warriors’ 38-year-old star sat out his 16th straight game and isn’t expected back until next week. Without him, Golden State can’t find any consistency.
Brandin Podziemski tried to keep them afloat with 25 points, while Porzingis added 20 in his first start since arriving at the trade deadline.

Even after cutting it to 109-102 in the final quarter, the Warriors never shook Minnesota.
Opposite momentum
For the Wolves, this win couldn’t have come at a better time. It halts the skid and revives a squad angling for a solid playoff spot. Minnesota now finishes the trip in Oklahoma City.
For Golden State, things are getting messy. The Warriors have dropped four straight — all at home — and they look brittle without Curry.
Next up: a road trip to Madison Square Garden to face the Knicks, a chance to stop the bleeding.
Tonight belonged to Anthony Edwards. When he’s playing like that, Minnesota is flat-out dangerous.
