There was cup action across Europe, and in Italy the semi-finals opened with an unexpected pairing. One side: Como. The other: Inter Milan. The scoreline: a flat 0-0, dull, forgettable, and short on moments.
Nothing’s lost for either team. But neither side really went for it.

Fabregas’ Como the hungrier side
On the pitch, it was Cesc Fabregas’ team that showed the most energy. Not necessarily more quality, but more intent.
Como tried. A couple of long-range efforts, dangerous crosses, a real push to unsettle the favourites. Inter countered with management football, as if saving themselves for later — low on committed runs, low on shots on target, high on waiting it out.
Between the posts for the Lombards, Marco Butez had a quiet night. Far too quiet for a semi-final.
Back to San Siro
This 0-0 leaves the tie wide open ahead of the return leg on 22 April in Milan. Inter will be favourites at home, but Como proved they can hang in there.
A dull first act, cautious and careful. The proper fight is still to come.
