News Spanish football feared
Spanish football is in mourning. Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel died in hospital on Tuesday at the age of 30, a day after a violent collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono at the end of a Liga 2 match. The Canary Islands club announced the death at 9:31 a.m., saying it had happened an hour and a half earlier. In its statement, the club said it was torn apart by grief and unable to believe it was true.
Monday’s game ended 2-2. The player lost consciousness after the collision and then suffered a cardiac arrest during his transfer to hospital, according to local media.
