Hamstring keeps the centre at Leinster
Ireland may start their Nations Championship push without one of their most experienced backs. The IRFU said today that centre Garry Ringrose is a doubt for the November fixtures with a hamstring problem.
The 31-year-old hurt himself in training before Leinster’s 24-18 win over Munster on Saturday. The Ireland group came together on Monday, but Ringrose was allowed to stay with his province and carry on his rehab, which tells you how uncertain his timeline is.
Ringrose is not the only name on the injury list. Fly-half Sam Prendergast missed the Munster game with a wrist problem but remains in the national squad, where he will keep working on his recovery. Winger Jimmy O’Brien is going through the return-to-play protocol after a concussion suffered in the same Leinster win in Dublin.

Three home games to come
Ireland play the last three group rounds at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin. Argentina visit on November 6, Fiji follow on the 14th and South Africa close the run on the 21st. Between November 27 and 29, Ireland then play a final against the southern hemisphere side ranked level with them.
With a schedule that tight, there is little room to wait on a centre who is still in treatment. Ireland have not given a return date for Ringrose.
