Eight runs in one inning
Milwaukee took a commanding 3-0 lead in the World Series overnight, hammering the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 in Game 3 in Florida. The Brewers have won all three games and need one more to claim the first title in franchise history. Neither finalist has ever been champion, so a first is guaranteed either way.
The game started quietly. Milwaukee led 2-0 after four innings, with veteran Christian Yelich, 34 and the 2018 NL MVP, among those driving the early offense. Then the fifth inning broke open. The Brewers sent eight runs across in one sitting, and Brice Turang knocked in two on his own swing before coming around to score himself.

Pitching holds the line
The scoreline did not come from the long ball. Nobody homered in the game. Milwaukee simply kept putting the ball in play and finished with 16 hits, while its pitchers allowed Tampa Bay only three. Robert Gasser, the Brewers’ starter, picked up the win.
Rays starter Freddy Peralta, the hero of Tampa Bay’s run to the final, absorbed seven of those 16 hits by himself. The Rays got on the board only in the ninth inning.
The first two games in Wisconsin were tight, 3-2 and 5-4. Game 3 was nothing like them. Milwaukee can finish the series as early as Tuesday night in Game 4, and Tampa Bay has to stop a team that has not lost yet.
