Minnesota’s perfect start ends in overtime
The Timberwolves had won their first three games by more than 20 points each. Cleveland ended that run overnight, erasing a 15-point deficit to win 127-125 in overtime.
Donovan Mitchell delivered the decisive shot, a mid-range jumper with 1:02 left in the extra period. Anthony Edwards had a wide-open three to tie it with 3.9 seconds on the clock and missed. Peyton Watson grabbed the rebound and made both free throws, and Edwards’ buzzer-beating three only trimmed the final margin. Mitchell scored 26 with seven assists, James Harden added 22 and nine assists, and Evan Mobley had 15 points and eight rebounds. Cleveland moves to 2-1.

Edwards does everything but win
Edwards scored 47, a season high and the seventh time he has reached that mark in a regular-season game. He had 20 by halftime, when Minnesota led 60-50 after being up as many as 15. He was listed as uncertain with right knee management, and coach Chris Finch said the situation is being assessed day to day without long-term concern.
The help was thin. Rudy Gobert pulled down 19 rebounds but missed all eight of his shots. LaMelo Ball scored 11 with seven turnovers, and Jaden McDaniels added 14.
A third-quarter swing
The game turned in the third quarter on a 12-0 Cleveland run, with eight of the points from Harden, to make it 70-69. Nine lead changes followed over the last four and a half minutes of the period. Harden tied the score at 113 with a floater 10 seconds from the end of regulation, and Watson blocked Edwards to force overtime. Rookie Meleek Thomas scored 16 off the Minnesota bench, and the Wolves were playing on the second night of a back-to-back after beating Toronto 117-94.
