Tampa Bay lands the first punch
The Rays needed one inning to score four times at American Family Field on Saturday night. Chandler Simpson and Junior Caminero each drove in a run with a single, and Liam Hicks followed with a two-run homer. Milwaukee starter Logan Henderson lasted three innings and allowed three earned runs.
The Brewers answered right away. William Contreras and Garrett Mitchell had RBI singles in the bottom of the first, and rookie Cooper Pratt scored in the fourth when first baseman Jonathan Aranda misplayed a ground ball. That made it 4-3, and Rays starter Drew Rasmussen finished with 3.2 innings and three earned runs.

Frelick ties it, Pratt finishes it
Sal Frelick tied the score at 4-4 with a solo homer in the sixth. It was the first home run of the series for Milwaukee, and it capped a 2-for-4 night. One inning later, Pratt pushed a single the other way for the go-ahead run, the first time the Brewers led all night, and that decided a 5-4 final.
Five Brewers relievers kept the Rays off the board after that first inning. Aaron Ashby gave Milwaukee 1.2 innings with three strikeouts and ended it by getting Yandy Diaz with a runner on third.
History favors Milwaukee, and the series moves south
Teams that go up 2-0 in the World Series have won the title 80.7 percent of the time across 55 previous cases. Game 3 is Monday at 8 p.m. ET in St. Petersburg, and Tampa Bay will want to bring its first-inning form for the full nine.
