Immanuel Feyi-Waboso Exeter hamstring injury

Rugby: Feyi-Waboso scan fear rattles Exeter

Hamstring scans for the Exeter winger

Exeter won on Sunday, but the afternoon left a question over their best attacking weapon. Immanuel Feyi-Waboso came off early in the second half of the 34-28 win over Newcastle Red Bulls and is set for scans on a possible hamstring problem. He had been seen stretching the hamstring minutes before he left the field.

Director of rugby Rob Baxter said the substitution was not planned. He described the hamstring as overloaded, said he did not think it was catastrophic, and called it “more of a concern than a long-term worry.”

A familiar injury list

The 23-year-old England international has had little luck. A shoulder injury cost him most of 2025, a hamstring concern kept him out of the 2026 Six Nations, and a fractured jaw later led to more missed games before he returned for the final.

The win was Exeter’s first in the Premiership this season. They have eight points from three games and sit eighth. The calendar does not offer much breathing room: the Investec Champions Cup opens with a trip to Toulouse, and October also brings Bristol Bears and Harlequins.
