Golden State pays up before free agency
The Warriors did not wait for next summer. Guard Brandin Podziemski has agreed to a five-year, $110 million extension, his agent Bill Duffy told ESPN on Saturday. The deal is fully guaranteed and carries a mutual option on the final season, 2031-32.
Podziemski is 23. He was supposed to hit restricted free agency in 2027, which would have given other teams a chance to send an offer sheet Golden State had to match. Now that risk is gone. He earned $5.6 million in the last year of his rookie contract and moves to $18.9 million next season.

What the Warriors are buying
Last season he played all 82 games, 43 of them as a starter, and averaged 13.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists. He hit 37.1 percent from three. His 153 made threes ranked second on the roster, behind only Stephen Curry’s 190.
Golden State took him 19th overall in 2023. Across 220 games and 104 starts he has averaged 11.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists, numbers that rose again last year as his role grew.
What comes next
The extension settles one long-term question before the season even starts. The Warriors open on the road against the Lakers on October 21, with Podziemski now locked in as part of the backcourt around Curry for years to come.
