Indian Wells served up fireworks on Tuesday, starting with Aryna Sabalenka efficiently brushing aside Naomi Osaka. Then three youngsters stole the headlines — Victoria Mboko, Talia Gibson and Linda Noskova — all barreling into the quarter-finals and proving the next generation isn’t just knocking, it’s kicking the door down.

Mboko shuts down Anisimova and joins Sabalenka in the quarters
Victoria Mboko, the 19-year-old Canadian, never once looked rattled against Amanda Anisimova. Every rally felt like a pressure test and Mboko passed with room to spare. She never handed the American a break chance, served with machine-like control and dominated the second set. After a tidy first set (6-4), she steamrolled the second (6-1) in just 1h12. Mboko books her spot in the quarter-finals and will face Aryna Sabalenka next — they met in Australia before, but this time the script could be very different.
Gibson knocks out Paolini and keeps the dream alive
The real shock came from Talia Gibson, who keeps upsetting the order. The Australian, way down the rankings (112e), toppled world No.7 Jasmine Paolini in a match she largely controlled. After wins over Ann Li, Ekaterina Alexandrova and Clara Tauson, she ended Paolini’s run in three sets (7-5, 2-6, 6-1). Gibson — a qualifier — is riding a sensational wave at Indian Wells and now stands one victory from the semi-finals.
Noskova blows past Eala in a blink
Linda Noskova produced an almost flawless display against Alexandra Eala. In just 55 minutes the 21-year-old Czech dismantled the Filipina (6-2, 6-0), extending a superb run. After victories over Jessica Bouzas Maneiro and Sorana Cirstea, Noskova left her opponent no foothold, seizing control from the first game. With that relentless tempo, she looks ready to go deep — she’ll meet Talia Gibson for a semi-final spot.
Quarter-finals promise fireworks
The quarter-finals are shaping up to be edge-of-your-seat stuff. Victoria Mboko will try to derail Sabalenka, while Gibson and Noskova clash in what should be a high-quality, high-stakes match where every point matters. The event is picking up pace and intensity, and these young players look hell-bent on making the most of their shot.
