Winnipeg Jets – Anaheim Ducks: Hellebuyck up against a revenge-hungry California attack
At Canada Life Centre the Jets keep piling up points. Their secret weapon? Connor Hellebuyck has been utterly dominant in goal, still buzzing from his Olympic best-goalie accolade.
Don’t get comfy, though — the Anaheim Ducks are turning up with teeth bared. Does their California offense have what it takes to breach the Winnipeg wall more than twice tonight? We pick apart the match-ups and give our tip.
The Jets are relentless
Since play restarted, Winnipeg have ridden a serious wave: points in six straight games. Scott Arniel’s side have strung together three solid wins in a row — Chicago (3-2 OT), Tampa Bay (4-1) and Vancouver (3-2 OT). That run has them just five points off the West’s top eight. Playoff hopes are very much back on.
In the middle of an eight-game homestand, the Jets are doing the job without fireworks. Their home numbers are pretty ordinary (3.13 goals for, 2.90 against on average). One small but telling stat: their last eight games have all finished with six goals or fewer.
The injury ward still has people waiting (Pionk, Miller, Niederreiter and Namestnikov are out), though the blueliners should return soon. The big plus is Josh Morrissey’s barnstorming comeback — he celebrated with a goal and an assist straight away against Vancouver.
Anaheim Ducks want to settle the score
The Ducks (4th in the West) have been patchy. Joel Quenneville’s group blasted out of the break with three straight wins, then stumbled. They’ve lost two of their last four, including a heavy 5-1 defeat to Colorado and a 4-0 shutout by the Blues. Luckily they scraped points against the Islanders and Montreal in between.
This trip to Winnipeg starts their first proper road trip since the restart. The issue? Across the season the Ducks are the league’s worst away defense (3.73 goals allowed per game!). There have been signs of improvement, but it’s still a worry.
To make matters worse, big signing John Carlson (fresh from Washington) suffered an injury and joins Petr Mrazek and Troy Terry on the sidelines. The only bright spot: Mikael Granlund is back, even if he finished -2 against St. Louis.
NHL Pick Winnipeg Jets vs Anaheim Ducks
Anaheim Ducks to score over 2 goals
Make no mistake — getting hammered 4-0 by the Blues probably smarted. That was only the fifth time this season they’ve lost by four or more. And guess what? In the previous four instances Anaheim reacted by scoring at least three goals in the very next game every time.
Add in the head-to-head edge: in 4 of their last 5 meetings with the Jets, the Ducks have scored three or more. And yes, Hellebuyck is on a roll, but the stat is stubborn: he’s only once this season strung together five straight games conceding two goals or fewer. Anaheim’s attack should wake up tonight, which makes “Over 2.5 goals for the Ducks” a solid play to try.

First, a word on our picks
- What we publish on Mathodds are analyses, nothing more. We share an opinion, a snapshot of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a freak goal… and the whole script changes.
- Let’s be clear: there’s no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something looks “obvious”, it isn’t. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s inevitable at some point.
- Best practice: be sensible. Stake small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live on. And whatever you do, don’t chase losses — it rarely ends well.
- Betting should stay a pastime, not a job or a source of income. If it’s taking over your life, making you anxious or stressed, take a break. If needed, talk to a specialist. That’s what they’re there for.
- At the end of the day, the responsibility is yours. Reading our content means you accept the risk exists and won’t disappear, even with the best analysis.
- Important reminder: betting is prohibited for minors and must comply with your country’s laws. Gambling can spiral (money loss, family tensions, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
