Utah solid at home, but smarting 
The Mammoth kick off a short homestand, but they’re still wobbling after that hammering by the Minnesota Wild (5-0) — easily their worst loss of the year. Even after that wallop, André Tourigny’s men sit fifth in the West, six points clear of the playoff cut.
Their big edge? The home rink. They haven’t lost consecutive home games since mid-December and boast one of the stingiest home defenses in the league (2.67 GA, fourth best overall). Small warning: since the Olympic break their attack has stalled (2.33 goals scored) and the defense has looked a touch shakier (3.33 GA). On the injury front, defense boss Mikhail Sergachev is still out, but the team’s top-scoring blueliner should return tonight to tighten things up.
Chicago Blackhawks in survival mode 
For the Blackhawks, putting wins together has been a slog. Jeff Blashill’s side haven’t won back-to-back since mid-January. What’s obvious: they’re fighting not to sink — three of their last four games went beyond regulation. Painful losses to Winnipeg (3-2 OT), Dallas (4-3 OT) and a proper hiding from Vancouver (6-3), before finally snapping the run by beating… Utah. That win lifted them to 14th in the West.
On the road it’s a mess. Chicago have lost 7 of their last 8 away games. Their scoring away from Illinois is poor — just 2.65 goals per game. In 11 of their last 12 road matches they couldn’t top three goals. Roster notes: goalie Spencer Knight is doubtful but expected to start; Oliver Moore is out. Sam Lafferty returns after six weeks on the sidelines, and Ryan Donato moves onto the second line to try and inject life into the attack.
