Utah Jazz – Minnesota Timberwolves: Gobert faces his old team

Wolves and Jazz meet in what looks like a lopsided showdown in Utah. One side is solid and eyeing a title. The other can light up the scoreboard one night and collapse the next, hitting lows you hardly see in NBA history. And in the middle of it all is Rudy Gobert, back against the club that used to be his.

Utah Jazz: make home count

It’s been a slide in Salt Lake City. One win from a five-game road trip. Will Hardy’s group are treading water, not swimming. Heavy losses to the Mavs (122-144 and 120-138), Spurs (110-123) and Bulls (126-128) have exposed defensive holes that keep getting bigger. All season long the Jazz have allowed 127.5 points per game — the worst mark in the league. With that much leaking at the back, you need the offense to carry you. Luckily Utah can score, especially at home, where they even toppled the Pistons (131-129).

They put up 119.1 points per game, the sixth-best attack in the league. When the shots fall, they can hang with anyone. They showed that against the Cavaliers recently (123-112), producing on both ends. Against the Wolves they’ll need good shooting to halt the skid.

Minnesota Timberwolves: closing in on a top-3 spot

After two brutal losses to Western rivals (at Houston 105-110; at San Antonio 123-126), the Wolves have a golden chance to get back on track against one of the worst defensive teams in the league. With the roster largely intact, Minnesota has the tools to make this tidy. A potent offense that averages 120.0 points per game (third-most in the NBA) and a defense anchored by Rudy Gobert that allows just 114.7 points per game (11th best).

Anthony Edwards, fresh off his career-high 55-point game against the Spurs, should have an even easier night against the league’s worst defense. Julius Randle’s strength will help open things up too, giving the Wolves the blueprint to put on an offensive clinic.

NBA prediction Utah Jazz vs Minnesota Timberwolves

Minnesota wins by 10 points or more

The Wolves dropped two tough ones to direct rivals and they’ll want to make this simple. The plan? Build a lead early and never let Utah get comfortable. Utah have flashed quality against contenders this season, but their momentum is gone and Lauri Markkanen’s status is uncertain. All signs point to a comfortable Wolves win in Salt Lake City.

First, a word on our predictions

  • What we publish on Mathodds is analysis, nothing more. It’s our take on the moment — not a contract or a promise. Sport is messy. A red card, an injury, a freak goal… and everything flips.
  • Let’s be blunt: every bet carries risk. Even the “obvious” ones aren’t guaranteed. Yes, you can lose. It’ll happen sooner or later.
  • Keep it sensible. Stake small, set a budget, and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live on. And whatever you do, don’t chase losses — that rarely ends well.
  • Betting should be entertainment, not a job or a revenue stream. If it’s taking over, stressing you out, or causing fights, take a break. And if you need help, reach out to a specialist organisation. That’s what they’re for.
  • At the end of the day, you’re responsible. Reading our content means you accept the risk — it won’t vanish, even with the best analysis.
  • Essential reminder: betting is banned for minors and must follow your local laws. Gambling can spiral (money loss, family stress, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
