Nigeria – Uganda: 3/3 for the Super Eagles?
With first place in Group C already wrapped up, Nigeria meet Uganda on Tuesday night in Fez to close out the group stage. The Cranes are fighting for their tournament lives and have no room for error.
Uganda: hope’s still alive
The situation’s completely different for Uganda. Back at AFCON for the first time since 2019, the Cranes have had a rough start. They lost to Tunisia on opening day, then threw away a win against Tanzania — missed penalty in stoppage time. One point. Bottom of the group. Not ideal. But it’s not over. A win against Nigeria would still leave a slim path to qualify as one of the best third-placed teams. Big ask.
Recent numbers don’t exactly inspire confidence. One win in their last ten AFCON matches. Goals hard to come by. Nerves fraying at key moments. Still, Uganda have a fairly even record against Nigeria and have pulled off shocks before.
Pressure is squarely on the Cranes. That can free you up. They’ll try to play without calculation and unsettle a favourite who might be tempted to manage the game.
Nigeria: composed but vulnerable
Nigeria booked their place in the last 16 before the final day, but the Super Eagles haven’t had it easy. Against Tunisia in match two, Eric Chelle’s side looked to have it wrapped after a dominant first hour, with goals from Osimhen, Ndidi and Lookman.
The finish exposed cracks. A set-piece goal pulled Tunisia back, then a late penalty made it tense. The win stood, but it left a sour taste.
The pattern’s clear: Nigeria score loads but concede just as often. The Super Eagles have scored and conceded in seven of their last eight matches. It’s a fragile balance. Still, form’s been decent overall — seven wins from their last ten.
Already through and guaranteed top spot, they’ll still approach this last game seriously. The aim’s simple: send a message before the knockouts and build momentum after a series of frustrating tournaments, including a loss in the last AFCON final.
Likely lineups

- The Super Eagles score plenty but remain exposed at the back.
- Uganda are playing for qualification and have no margin for error.
- It could be more open than it looks.

Football Prediction Uganda vs Nigeria
Nigeria to win
Even with possible rotation, Nigeria’s depth and individual quality should tilt this. Uganda can cause problems in spells, but over 90 minutes the Super Eagles look better equipped to take the three points — even if it won’t be comfortable.

First up, a word on our predictions
- What we publish on Mathodds is analysis, nothing more. We share an opinion — a read of the moment — not a guarantee. Sport stays what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a goal from nowhere… and the script flips.
- Let’s be clear: there’s no bet without risk. Even when it looks “obvious”, it’s not. Yes, you can lose. It’s inevitable at some point.
- Best policy: be sensible. Bet small, set a bankroll and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live on. And don’t chase losses — that rarely ends well.
- Betting should stay a game, not a job or a revenue stream. If it’s taking over your life, making you anxious or stressed, take a break. Speak to a specialist organisation if needed. That’s what they’re for.
- In the end, responsibility is yours. Reading our content means you accept the risk exists and it won’t disappear, even with the best analysis in the world.
- Essential reminder: betting is forbidden to minors and must respect your country’s laws. Gambling can spiral (money losses, family tensions, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.

Info can change
A tip is based on what we know when we write it. Team sheets (like Nigeria’s) can change, a player can pick up a knock, the weather can turn… and the analysis becomes outdated fast. We’re not responsible for that.
