Tottenham – Aston Villa: another all-Premier League Cup tie! 
Tottenham go into this one in an electric atmosphere. Beaten in the final seconds at Bournemouth (3-2), the Spurs are sliding alarmingly into the bottom half and the pressure on Thomas Frank is getting impossible to ignore.
After a promising start, north London has been brought back down to earth: too inconsistent, too many matches thrown away, and momentum draining week after week.
With only two wins in their last thirteen domestic outings, Tottenham have a lot on the line. A lot. Another poor display could well seal Frank’s fate.
Tottenham: full-blown emergency 
The Spurs arrive weakened. James Maddison, Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski are still out, while Mohammed Kudus, who picked up a muscle issue against Sunderland, is expected to miss this one.
Yves Bissouma, stuck at AFCON with Mali, is also unavailable.
With a tight schedule and a gutting midweek defeat, Frank should make several changes to his XI: Archie Gray, Kevin Danso and Richarlison are tipped to start.
Aston Villa: the good run goes on 
Aston Villa, by contrast, are having an almost unreal season. Long in trouble over the autumn, Unai Emery’s men found an impressive rhythm and have settled themselves firmly in the top three.
Unbeaten in 13 of their last 14 matches across all competitions, the Villans head to London with confidence.
They also won 2-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in October — a game that already highlighted their tactical maturity.
Aston Villa: injury update
Emiliano Martinez, taken off at half-time against Crystal Palace, is expected to miss the match with a calf problem.
Amadou Onana is ruled out, while Pau Torres could return after more than a month on the sidelines.
Morgan Rogers, who scored in his last two meetings with Tottenham, could again be one of the main threats up front.
