Sporting Lisbon – Bodø/Glimt: time for a comeback at José Alvalade? 
This Tuesday night the José Alvalade will be rocking for a Champions League second leg that could get completely mental. Humiliated in the first game, Sporting must pull off a massive upset to stay in the competition against the Norwegian outfit, Bodø/Glimt.
Sporting dreaming of a historic turnaround 
Sporting were ripped apart last week in freezing Norway, returning with a heavy 3-0 defeat. To avoid joining the pile of heavyweights dumped out at this stage, the Lisbon side cling to their glorious past. Older fans will remember that shock reversal against Manchester United in 1964 — a 5-0 win after losing the first leg by three goals.
And the José Alvalade is no ordinary ground: 17 wins in their last 18 home matches, ten of them by three goals or more. They’ve been rock-solid at home against Norwegian teams in the past (three games, three clean sheets). The players will be coming out swinging, especially after getting an unexpected weekend off when their league game against Tondela was postponed.
Bodø/Glimt won’t sit back 
The so-called “Super Team” are riding an absurd run — five straight Champions League wins. After dumping Inter Milan out in the playoffs, they schooled Sporting in the first leg through Fet, Blomberg and Hogh. If they finish the job on Tuesday, they’ll be the first Norwegian club in the quarter-finals since Rosenborg in 1997.
Crucially, Kjetil Knutsen’s side aren’t going to sit on their lead. They travel well and don’t scare easily — they managed just two away goals across their last five trips in all competitions, but they defend and strike hard on the break. Also off this weekend (the Eliteserien hasn’t restarted), the Norwegians arrive in Lisbon fresh and ready to hit on the counter and kill the tie.

Sporting Lisbon win
Driven by absolute urgency and a boiling home crowd, the hosts will crank up the pressure from minute one and try to set the match alight. Sporting have the quality to win in front of their supporters.
That said, shutting down Bodø/Glimt’s firepower for a full 90 minutes is a tall order. The Norwegians have already shown they can pull off audacious away results. We can see a Portuguese win for pride, but it may well fall short of a full comeback and qualification.
