The lefty posted a ridiculous season (19-5, 2.86 ERA, 1.10 WHIP). His career numbers demand respect and he’s the sort of starter that tilts an opener in your favour.

Backing an Opening Day is always risky — bats can be rusty and pitchers might not be fully tuned. But the matchup on the mound pushes us one way.
