PSV: Dutch juggernaut, shaky in Europe 
Bosz’s side were stung in their last European outing — 3-0 at Newcastle and just one shot in the box. Their situation is tight: they can’t finish higher than 16th now, and they’re only two points clear of 32nd. Back in the Eredivisie they’re a steamroller: 53 points from 20 games, 14 clear of Feyenoord. The 2-2 with NAC Breda didn’t dent that dominance. In the Champions League PSV have lost two on the spin, but overall form is decent — six wins, a draw and one defeat in their last eight matches across all competitions. At home their European record swings between wild highs, like a 6-2 rout of Napoli, and defeats to Union SG and Atletico.
Bayern: a blip, but still terrifying 
Bayern arrive in the Netherlands after their first defeat of the 2025–26 season in the Bundesliga, a 2-1 reverse at Augsburg. Rare slip — only the fourth time in 30 matches they haven’t won. Before that setback Vincent Kompany’s team had scored at least twice in ten straight games. They’re still way out in front in the league with 50 points, eight clear of Dortmund. In the Champions League Bayern lead the scoring charts (20 goals) and boast one of the best defenses. A win on Wednesday would guarantee the second leg at home. Past meetings tilt heavily towards the Germans: two wins in 2016–17 (4-1 and 2-1). Bayern have also won their last five away matches.
