Matchday 30 served up two very different scripts on Saturday. At the Emirates, Arsenal had to wait until the dying moments to break down Everton. Meanwhile, Chelsea crashed at home to Newcastle. A night that could shift the race for European places.

Arsenal breaks it in the dying minutes
For nearly 90 minutes Arsenal kept banging on a locked door. Everton sat deep, disciplined and deadly on the break, and the Gunners circled the box without finding a way through.
Londoners had the ball, sure, but the Toffees stayed compact and struck a couple of times on the counter. Chances came and went at both ends, yet the net stayed stubbornly still.
Then the lock opened when it looked like both sides would settle for a rotten draw.
On 90 minutes Viktor Gyökeres popped up to break the deadlock and detonate the Emirates. Moments later the game got another twist. Max Dowman, 16, slotted a second in stoppage time to hand Arsenal a win that suddenly looked far less nervy.

The win tightens Mikel Arteta’s grip at the top. Arsenal move temporarily ten points clear of Manchester City.
Newcastle punish Chelsea at Stamford Bridge
Over at Stamford Bridge it was a different kind of evening for Chelsea.
The Blues wanted to build on that thumping of Aston Villa, but Newcastle arrived with a plan. It worked early.
On 18 minutes Joe Willock picked apart a sloppy defensive line and fed Anthony Gordon. The winger kept his cool and rolled the ball in to put the Magpies ahead.
Chelsea hogged possession after that and peppered the box, but they couldn’t find the finish. A few hot moments, two penalty appeals — nothing changed on the scoreboard.
A day that reshuffles the standings
That stoppage-time win lets Arsenal keep the heat on at the top and cements their status as title favourites.
Chelsea, meanwhile, blew a chance to press their claim on the top five. They stay fifth, but the pack behind is closing in.
Newcastle are the night’s big movers. The victory in London lifts the Magpies to eighth and rekindles their push for a European spot.
