Orlando Magic – Toronto Raptors: a big playoff-race showdown

The Magic and the Raptors meet for the second of three clashes this 2025-26 season. Toronto sit higher in the Eastern playoff picture for now, but this game will be a good barometer of the current balance between two teams that could square off in a series after mid-April.

Orlando Magic: keep stacking confidence

The Magic snapped a rough run with a win over the Heat (133-124). Before that, Jamahl Mosley’s side had dropped four straight to the Cavaliers (98-114 and 105-119), the Hornets (97-124) and the Grizzlies (109-126), and rarely looked in the fight. Those are games Orlando should be winning if they actually mean to make noise in the playoffs — and to win a series.

The Magic don’t excel at anything this season. Maybe that’s the problem. One night they torch teams on offense; the next they’re lost. Same on defence. A unit that used to be defined by defense looks a bit adrift, hence the patchy results.

INJURY REPORT : Franz Wagner (OUT)

Toronto Raptors: battling for the 2nd spot

Winners of four of their last five, the Raptors saw that hot streak halted by the Knicks (92-119), costing them a shot at reclaiming second in the East. Still, Toronto head into this game with good momentum, both recently and across the season. Against a hit-or-miss Magic, they’re the clear favorites — especially on the road, where they’ve been strong this season (16-9).

Toronto live and die by their defense. Sixth in points allowed (112.1), they can rely on high-quality individual defenders and a solid team scheme, with Scottie Barnes at the front. Jamal Shead, Ja’Kobe Walter and rookie Collin Murray-Boyles all pull their weight on that end. Offensively, Darko Rajakovic’s group can lean too much on Brandon Ingram at times, but they move the ball — 29.4 assists per game (4th) shows it.

INJURY REPORT : Jakob Poeltl (OUT)

NBA Pick Orlando Magic vs Toronto Raptors

Raptors to win

Even after a solid win over the Heat, the Magic still hasn’t shown it can string together convincing wins. The Raptors, by contrast, bounce back cleanly after losses. Losing Franz Wagner matters — he’s Orlando’s best player this season. Toronto handle the road well, and while Orlando’s output is wildly unpredictable, the Raptors have the pieces to get the job done.

First, a word on our picks

  • What we publish on Mathodds are analyses, nothing more. We offer an opinion, a snapshot of the moment, not a guarantee. Sport is unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a freak goal — and the script flips.
  • Let’s be clear: no bet is risk-free. Even when something looks obvious, it rarely is. Yes, you can lose. It will happen at some point.
  • Best policy: be sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live. And for the love of God: don’t chase losses — it rarely ends well.
  • Betting should stay a pastime, not a job or a source of income. If it’s taking over, annoying you or putting you under pressure, take a break. If needed, talk to a specialist organisation — that’s what they’re for.
  • In the end, the responsibility is yours. Reading our content means you accept the risk exists and it won’t disappear, even with the best analysis in the world.
  • Essential reminder: betting is forbidden to minors and must comply with the law in your country. Gambling can spiral (money loss, family strain, addiction). Need help? Call 09 74 75 13 13 (standard rate) https://www.gambleaware.org/.

No legal commitment from us

Our picks aren’t a contract. They carry no legal weight. Plain and simple: you can’t rely on them to make claims if a bet loses.

Info can change

A pick is based on what we know when we write it. But team sheets change, players get hurt, weather shifts… and the analysis can become outdated fast. We can’t be held responsible for that.
