New York Rangers – Ottawa Senators: Senators on a mission at Madison Square Garden
Ottawa are charging towards the playoffs. They head into Madison Square Garden to face the East’s whipping boys — a Rangers side that’s just dropped four on the spin after an odd little four-game hot streak.
Can the Senators nick two points in New York and close in on that coveted top eight? We break down the form and the stats and serve up our best pick.
Rangers struggling at home
For the first time since the break the Blueshirts have lost four straight. The latest was a 3-2 shootout defeat to the Winnipeg Jets — another sign of a team in freefall. They sit rock bottom of the East, a brutal 20 points off a playoff spot. At this rate, the season could be over by midweek.
The worst bit? Their form at MSG. At home the Rangers look lost: they score much less (2.21 goals per game at home vs 2.79 overall) and concede more (3.27). A 27.2% home win rate makes them the only Eastern club with fewer than ten home victories. Injuries aren’t helping — veteran Jonathan Quick joins Urho Vaakanainen, Matt Rempe and Noah Laba on the sidelines.
Ottawa have no room for error
It’s the opposite in Ottawa. Since late February they’ve picked up points in 10 of 12 games and grabbed eight wins in that run. Travis Green’s men just thumped Toronto 5-2 at home. Sitting 10th in the East, every game is huge — and a few slip-ups by rivals could move them up.
On the road they play exciting hockey: 3.49 goals per game away (top three in the conference). They also leak chances — 3.46 conceded on the road. The blue line’s battered: Dennis Gilbert has joined key men Jake Sanderson and Nick Jensen on the injured list. Oddly, that carnage hasn’t shown up in the very recent sample — they’ve allowed just 2.14 goals over the last seven outings.

NHL Prediction New York Rangers vs Ottawa Senators
New York Rangers to score over 2 goals
Even buried in the standings and already looking to next year, the Rangers still find ways to score. They’ve netted at least two goals in 12 of their last 13 regular-season games.
Against Ottawa it’s almost a habit: the Rangers have hit two or more goals in each of their last 14 meetings with the Senators. Another tasty stat: every time New York has suffered a four-game losing streak this season, they’ve responded by scoring at least twice in each of the following three games. Facing a road team that plays on the front foot but is missing key defenders, backing the Rangers to deliver offensively is the clearest statistical play of the night.

First, a word on our picks
- What we publish on Mathodds is analysis, nothing more. It’s our take on the moment, not a guarantee. Sport is unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a freak goal — everything can flip in an instant.
- Let’s be blunt: there’s no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something looks “obvious”, it rarely is. Yes, that means you can lose. Inevitably, at some point, you will.
- Be sensible. Stake small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live on. And don’t chase losses — it almost never ends well.
- Betting should be entertainment, not a job or a source of income. If it’s taking over your life, getting you stressed or dragging you down, take a break. Talk to a specialist if needed. That’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, you are responsible. Reading our content means you accept the risk is real and never disappears, even with the best analysis.
- Important reminder: betting is forbidden to minors and must follow the law where you live. Gambling can spiral (losses, family tension, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No commitment from us

Information can change
A prediction is based on what we know when we write it. Team sheets change, players get injured, weather turns — analysis can become outdated fast. We can’t be held liable for that.
