New York Knicks – Detroit Pistons: instant fireworks on the return
The Knicks and the Pistons meet for the last time this season — and possibly again in the playoffs, which would be must-see if it happens. New York has been beaten heavily twice by Detroit this year, and with a few bodies missing, the Knicks have to win tonight at Madison Square Garden.
New York Knicks: get back on track at home
Back from the All-Star break, the Knicks can focus on the only thing that matters now: the run-in. They sit a game ahead of the Cavaliers (4th) and just 0.5 games behind the Celtics (2nd). Mike Brown’s side must keep the pressure on or risk being swallowed up before the playoffs.
Their last four games paint a messy picture: two impressive wins and two worrying collapses. The wins over Boston (111-89) and Philadelphia (138-89) sent a statement; the losses to Detroit (80-118) and Indiana (134-137) exposed the same inconsistency we’ve seen all season from Jalen Brunson’s teammates. Against a Pistons frontcourt missing its top two bigs through suspension, this is one the Knicks cannot afford to drop.

Detroit Pistons: secure the top spot
After a first half they largely controlled — ending with the league’s second-best record behind the Thunder at 40-13 — the Pistons arrive full of confidence for the final stretch. The aim is blunt: lock down first place quickly and shift into playoff mode.
They’ve been flying: six wins in seven. The lone slip-up was a weird one against the young Wizards (117-126), but Detroit bounced straight back and dismantled New York the next night (118-80). Without Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart, Paul Reed will need to shoulder more, but this team has shown it can adapt when bodies are missing.

NBA pick New York Knicks vs Detroit Pistons
Knicks to win
For the third and final meeting of the season between two of the East’s stronger clubs, New York should start as favorites. They’re at home, and Detroit will be visibly weaker in the paint. Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson are listed and could wreck the interior — Duren and Stewart have been huge for Detroit this year, and their absence bites. This is one New York needs to take; they head into the game as clear favorites.

First, a word on our picks
- What we publish on Mathodds is analysis, nothing more. It’s our take, our read of the moment — never a guarantee. Sport stays unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a fluke play… and everything can flip.
- Let’s be blunt: there’s no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something looks “obvious”, it isn’t. Yes, that means you can lose. It will happen at some point.
- Bet sensibly. Stake small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need for bills. And don’t chase losses — it rarely ends well.
- Betting should be entertainment, not a job or income. If it’s taking over, stressing you out or causing trouble, stop and seek help. There are organizations for that.
- Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means you accept the risk exists and won’t vanish, even with the best analysis.
- Essential reminder: betting is prohibited for minors and must comply with your local laws. Gambling can spiral (money loss, family tension, addiction). Need help? Players Info Service: 09 74 75 13 13 (not a premium-rate call) https://www.gambleaware.org/.

Info can change
