A playoff-level scrap
There was a proper postseason feel inside State Farm Arena. Atlanta Hawks vs New York Knicks delivered exactly what it promised: a hard, sharp, high-wire battle from first whistle to last.
In a cracking atmosphere, Atlanta were looking to keep that home run rolling. Instead, up against a New York side with more steel and more know-how, the Hawks folded in the final seconds (105-108), in a brutal finish.

Alexander-Walker lights it up, Brunson runs the show
The game turned into a high-end duel between Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Jalen Brunson.
For the Hawks, Alexander-Walker was sensational, pouring in 36 points, 20 of them before half-time. He was a nightmare to contain, dragging Atlanta through long stretches and helping them go in front at the break (57-53).

But Brunson came back with the same class. The Knicks point guard posted 30 points and 13 assists, then took complete control in the fourth quarter with 17 points in the final 12 minutes.

A proper closing-time masterclass. That was the difference.
The Knicks strike at the right moment
After a game that stayed tight for long spells, the New York Knicks found another gear when it mattered.
A 17-6 burst in the third quarter put them back in charge, with Karl-Anthony Towns doing plenty of the damage: 21 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists.

In the final quarter, the Knicks’ experience told. Cooler heads, cleaner execution, better shot selection — all the boring stuff that wins games. They managed the key possessions and edged ahead in the dying seconds.
A completely wild finish
The decisive moment came with 1.2 seconds left. Jalen Brunson nailed two huge free throws to put the Knicks three up.
With no timeout left, Atlanta had one shot only: chuck up a miracle.
CJ McCollum took the ball, drove forward and launched from midcourt… and somehow buried it.
The building erupted. Then came the letdown.
After a video review, the officials waved it off: McCollum still had the ball in his hands when the final buzzer sounded. A split second. That’s all it took to flip everything.

Atlanta will be kicking themselves
Even in defeat, the Hawks can take a few positives.
On top of Nickeil Alexander-Walker’s monster night, Jalen Johnson posted another double-double (21 points, 11 rebounds), while Dyson Daniels also made his mark with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
But this loss ends their 13-game home winning streak, a reminder that even when you’re flying, there’s barely any room for error against the best.
New York keep pushing their case
For the New York Knicks, this one meant a bit more.
It showed how solid this group is when the pressure hits and strengthens their claim as a serious threat in the East. With their 51st win of the season, the Knicks are still building momentum with the playoffs closing in.
Jalen Brunson’s leadership, once again decisive, will be a huge weapon if they want a long run.
A playoff taster
Beyond the result, this was the sort of game that belongs on a postseason stage.
Intensity, tension, big-time individual performances — Hawks and Knicks put on a proper show.
And if these two meet again in the playoffs, one thing’s for sure: it’ll be must-watch stuff.
