Thunder unveil their new home
It’s official. Oklahoma City announced Tuesday the naming-rights deal for its new arena. From the 2028-2029 season the team will play at Continental Coliseum. The franchise has signed a 15-year deal with Continental Resources. Until the keys change hands nothing changes for the current roster — the players will keep running the floor at the Paycom Center.
Taxpayers green-light the project
The club went with a local backer. The partner, an oil-and-gas company long headquartered in Oklahoma, will plaster its name and logo across the construction hoardings starting this week. The arena is part of a much bigger redevelopment push — the city is trying to modernize downtown with facilities up to NBA standards. To fund the hefty build, residents voted in late 2023 to introduce a local tax.
