Nashville Predators – San Jose Sharks: Sharks’ bogey team strike again?
Nashville and San Jose head into this on totally different notes. Add Nashville’s relentless dominance over the Sharks in recent meetings and you get a clash that’s liable to spark trouble.
Can the California side finally end this nightmare against their worst opponent? We strip back the numbers and the latest team news and give you the pick.
Nashville Predators riding high
Beyond their scary head-to-head record with tonight’s opponents, Andrew Brunette’s men roll into this on a four-game winning streak. They’ve taken down the Winnipeg Jets, Seattle Kraken, Vegas Golden Knights and Chicago Blackhawks in succession. That’s a nice haul and it helps lock in their 8th place in the West.
At home, Bridgestone Arena is turning back into a fortress: Nashville have won their last three home games in regulation, their best run this season (scoring 3.06 goals while conceding 3.20). Injury room? Empty. Even Adam Wilsby returned after a 10-game absence, slotting back in for Justin Barron and reclaiming his role as a playmaker (he’s the third-highest assister among the team’s defensemen).
San Jose’s ship is sinking
It’s the exact opposite for Ryan Warsofsky’s group. The Sharks travel to their worst bogey team carrying four straight regulation losses (the third time that’s happened this season), including a recent 4-1 defeat to the Philadelphia Flyers. The ugly number? Over that four-game stretch the California defense has allowed a ridiculous 5.25 goals per game. Somehow, mathematically, they still cling to a faint chance of sneaking into the top eight.
On the road it’s grim: seven losses in their last nine away games, and a back end coughing up 3.71 goals per game. It’s the worst away defensive stat in the entire NHL. At least the offense still chips in — 3.12 goals per game. Some good news: the injury list is clearing. Goalie Yaroslav Askarov, defenseman Vincent Desharnais and forwards Igor Chernyshev and Ryan Reaves are expected back tonight. Ty Dellandrea and Tyler Toffoli are penciled in for the end of the month.
NHL Prediction Nashville Predators vs San Jose Sharks
Nashville Predators to win
The head-to-head stat here is brutal: Nashville have won the last 13 meetings with San Jose. That’s domination pure and simple.
Factor in current form and the picture gets clearer. The Predators are on four solid wins and are ruthless at home right now, while the Sharks have been embarrassed four times in a row, giving up over five goals per game on average. Facing the worst away defense in the league, Nashville should make short work of their favorite victim. Back the home win (Moneyline) — it’s by far the most logical and sensible bet for this matchup.

First, a word about our picks
- What we publish on Mathodds is analysis, nothing more. It’s our view, a snapshot of the moment, not a guarantee. Sport stays unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a freak goal — the script flips in an instant.
- Let’s be blunt: there is no risk-free bet. Even when something looks “obvious”, it rarely is. Yes, you can lose. It will happen at some point.
- Best practice: be sensible. Stake small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to cover bills. And don’t chase losses — it almost never ends well.
- Betting should be entertainment, not a job or a revenue source. If it takes over your life, annoys you or stresses you out, step away. If needed, speak to a specialist. That’s what they’re there for.
- At the end of the day, responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and won’t vanish, even with the sharpest analysis.
- Essential reminder: betting is forbidden to minors and must follow your local laws. Gambling can spiral out of control (money losses, family tensions, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No liability from our side
Our picks aren’t a contract. They carry no legal weight. In plain terms: you can’t rely on them to make a legal claim if a bet loses.
Information can change
A prediction is based on what we know when we write it. But lineups change, players get injured, the weather shifts — and the analysis can go out of date fast. We can’t be held responsible for that.
Your role
