Memphis Grizzlies vs Charlotte Hornets – Free NBA prediction and picks – January 28, 2026

Memphis Grizzlies – Charlotte Hornets: Opposite trajectories

The Grizzlies host the Hornets in a clash between two teams sitting in similar spots in their conferences but heading in totally different directions. Charlotte’s climbing. Memphis is stuck in limbo.

Memphis Grizzlies: Need to bounce back at home

Memphis is in a funk — four losses in five. Their last real win was on that London trip, a tidy 126-109 over Orlando. Since then: not much. Oh, and Ja Morant’s hurt again. The headlines about trade chatter are louder than anything on the court.

They’re in most games but can’t close. Lost tight ones to New Orleans (127-133) and Atlanta (122-124). Against Houston (99-108) they were simply overmatched. If they’re to stop the slide at home, they’ll lean on how unselfish this roster is — they feed each other, averaging 29.0 assists (5th-best in the NBA this season).

Charlotte Hornets: Keep the climb going

The Hornets have been a joy to watch lately. With a near-full roster for the first time in ages, Charles Lee’s group is clicking — everyone’s contributing and the vibes look immaculate. Four wins in their last five, and they’re creeping up the Eastern conference standings. Blowouts against Philly (130-93) and Orlando (124-97) show they’re playing at a high level right now.

On paper they don’t look like a 19-28 team. They’re 15th in scoring (116.3), 13th in points allowed (115.0), 8th in rebounds (45.7) and 10th in assists (26.8). That’s Play-In material at least. They haven’t secured it yet, but a win tonight would push their case and keep hopes of a top-10 jump alive.

INJURY REPORT : Mason Plumlee (OUT)

NBA Prediction Memphis Grizzlies vs Charlotte Hornets

Hornets to win

The momentum gap is glaring. Charlotte’s almost healthy and beating better teams; Memphis is tangled in trade gossip and a long injury list. Even on the road, the Hornets have the pieces to cause real trouble and grab a fourth straight win.

A quick word on our picks

  • What we publish on Mathodds is analysis, nothing else. It’s our view of the moment, not a promise. Sport is unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a freak play — suddenly the script flips.
  • Let’s be blunt: there’s no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something looks “obvious”, it isn’t. Yes, you can lose. It will happen at some point.
  • Bet sensibly. Stake small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need for living expenses. And don’t chase losses — it rarely ends well.
  • Betting should stay entertainment, not a job or income source. If it’s taking over your life, making you anxious or stressed, pause. Talk to a specialist if needed. That’s what they’re there for.
  • Ultimately, you’re responsible. Reading our content means you accept the risk exists and always will, no matter how good the analysis.
  • Important reminder: betting is forbidden for minors and must follow your local laws. Gambling can spiral (money loss, family strain, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.

Information can change

A pick is based on what we know when we write it. Lineups change, injuries happen, conditions shift… and the analysis can become outdated fast. We can’t be held responsible for that.
