Lorient – Nantes: Momentum vs Desperation UN NOUVEAU LOGO POUR LA LIGUE 1 À COMPTER DE 2024-2025 | LFP - Ligue de Football Professionnel

Lorient host Nantes this Saturday at the Moustoir in Matchday 20. Two teams — and two very different seasons. One cruising, the other scrapping for lives.

Lorient aren’t flashy. They don’t have to be. The Fish have found a balance and are riding a run without defeats. Ninth in the table, they’ve also shown they can travel — back-to-back wins at Rennes and Monaco will do that for your confidence.

At home they’re tidy. The Moustoir is awkward to crack and Lorient haven’t lost there in weeks in the league. The football isn’t pretty every week, but the side defends well and concedes little.

The French Cup run helped too: a big win at Gosier and a tighter one against Hauts Lyonnais gave belief. One caveat: history versus Nantes hasn’t been kind. Still, Lorient won here in 2022, so it’s not impossible.

Nantes are in trouble. Low on points, they’re flirting with the drop zone. Results haven’t calmed anything — defeats have piled up, sometimes heavily.

That said, they’re not dead. The win at Marseille showed this group can turn up when it’s organised. Away from home they also tend to find the net at Lorient, and a goal or two could decide this.

But the urgency is real. Every point matters. Another loss would tighten the noose.

Probable line-ups

Lorient : Mvogo ; Meite, Talbi, Silva ; Le Bris, Abergel, Cadiou, Kouassi ; Makengo, Dermane, Dieng

Nantes : Lopes ; Amian, Awaziem, Tati, Cozza ; Sissoko, Cabella, Mwanga ; Lepenant, Abline, Mohamed

Football Prediction Lorient vs Nantes

Nantes or draw

Lorient are confident, but Nantes are fighting for survival. When teams are desperate they cling on. The Canary Islands — pardon, the Canaries — can scrap for a point, even if they don’t impress.

A quick word on our tips

  • What we publish on Mathodds are opinions, plain and simple. Analysis, not guarantees. Sport is messy. A red card, a nasty knock, a fluke goal — and everything flips.
  • Let’s be blunt: there’s no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even the “obvious” outcomes aren’t guaranteed. Yes, you can lose. You will, at some point.
  • Bet sensibly. Stake small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live on. And don’t chase losses — it never ends well.
  • Betting should be entertainment, not a job or an income stream. If it’s taking over, stressing you or wrecking your life, stop and get help. There are organisations for that.
  • Ultimately, it’s your responsibility. Reading our stuff means you accept the risk exists and it won’t vanish, no matter how clever the analysis.
  • Mandatory reminder: betting is for adults only and must comply with your local laws. Gambling can spiral (money loss, family rows, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
