After the break they fell apart like a house of cards, on both ends. Against a legit Eastern team tonight, this gap looks far too big.
New York Knicks: Cement third spot 
In New York the mood is far more professional. The Knicks have six wins from their last 10 and cherish third place in the East. Their formula? Defense first — lately they’re allowing just 104.9 points — paired with a tidy offense at 114.2. That combo makes them a real annoyance come playoff time.
Still, watch the hubris. March started a bit flat — just two wins in the last five. In the recent 134-117 win over Utah they had a scare, falling 18 points behind before erupting in the third. Maybe the top spot feels safe, but Jalen Brunson and co. shouldn’t pick up bad habits before the postseason.
