Houston Rockets vs San Antonio Spurs – Free NBA pick and predictions – January 20, 2026

Houston Rockets – San Antonio Spurs: Texas showdown

The Rockets and Spurs meet again during NBA Rivals Week — their second clash of the season and another West heavyweight test. Houston want revenge, to level the ledger and send a message to the conference. Expect a proper show; these two usually put on one.

Houston Rockets: make a statement

The Rockets are on the rise. After a slump that dragged them down to the Play-In, Ime Udoka’s crew have steadied the ship — three wins in four. The 110-105 win over the Wolves looked sharp, and the 119-110 result against the Pelicans confirmed it. For the fifth and final game of their home stretch, they get a real test: Victor Wembanyama’s Spurs.

Houston will lean on a stout defense (110.7 points allowed per game, 4th best in the league) to disrupt the high tempo San Antonio will try to force. Offensively, Kevin Durant and Alperen Sengun will need to work the midrange and attack spots to hurt a Spurs group that defends the rim well and closes out on the three on the road.

San Antonio Spurs: keep the run going

Three straight wins pushed the Spurs to 30 victories — the third team to reach that mark after the Thunder and the Pistons. Since the ugly loss to the Thunder (98-119), Wemby and co. have bounced back, beating the Bucks (119-101), the Wolves (126-123) and the Jazz (123-110). They’re on the road for the first time in a week and will be playing a back-to-back, which matters — and they’re without Devin Vassell, which dulls the offense.

Victor Wembanyama is, of course, the main offensive weapon — he’s been knocking down more than five threes per game over the last three outings. De’Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle will have to create and score against Houston’s defense. Cleaning the glass is huge for San Antonio’s chances — Houston are the league’s top rebounding team this season.

NBA Pick Houston Rockets vs San Antonio Spurs

Over 218,5 points

The Rockets come in the fresher side — the Spurs are on a back-to-back. Even though both teams rank among the league’s better defenses, Houston and San Antonio also run efficient offenses. With recent trends and Wembanyama hitting from deep, expect a fairly open game — enough scorers on both sides to keep the board busy.

First — a word on our picks

  • What we publish on Mathodds is analysis, nothing guaranteed. It’s our take in the moment, not a promise. Sport is unpredictable: a red card, an injury, a freak moment… and everything changes.
  • Be blunt: there’s no risk-free bet. Even when something looks “obvious”, it’s not. Yes, you can lose. It’s inevitable at some point.
  • Bet sensibly. Stake small, set a bankroll and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live. And don’t chase losses — it rarely ends well.
  • Betting should be entertainment, not a job or a source of income. If it’s taking over your life, making you anxious, or putting pressure on you, take a break. Talk to a specialist if you need to — that’s what they’re for.
  • Ultimately, the responsibility is yours. Reading our content means you accept the risk remains, regardless of how thorough the analysis.
  • Essential reminder: gambling is prohibited for minors and must follow your local law. Betting can spiral (loss of money, family tension, addiction). Need help? Players Info Service: 09 74 75 13 13 (non-premium call) https://www.gambleaware.org/.

No guarantees

Our picks aren’t a contract and carry no legal weight. In plain terms: you can’t claim anything if a bet loses.

Information changes fast

A pick is based on what we know when we write it. Rosters change, a player gets injured, conditions shift — and the analysis can become outdated. We’re not liable for that.

Your role

Before placing a bet, check that gambling is legal where you live. If it’s not, that’s your responsibility, not ours.

Responsible gambling comes first

We won’t say it enough: gamble in moderation. If you struggle to control it, seek help. We can’t be responsible for compulsive or excessive use of the site’s information.
