Five minutes from time, Azon strikes
Getafe edged Malaga 1-0 this afternoon at the Coliseum on Matchday 7 of La Liga. The winner came in the 85th minute, with Ivan Azon finishing off a neat assist from Martin Satriano.
The Uruguayan had been a nuisance all afternoon. He completed four dribbles and created the only big chance of the game for the home side. It was his pass into the box that set up Azon for the goal that settled it. Four minutes later, the Spanish forward made way for Sazonov, job done.
But it did not look like going that way for most of the match. Malaga had 55 per cent of the ball. The visitors had as many shots as their hosts. Yet none of them counted as a big chance. Zero. That was the gap between the two sides on Sunday.

Bordalas’ Getafe stay true to type
Jose Bordalas lined up in a 4-5-1 with Enes Unal up front and a packed midfield. Ramon Terrats won 10 of his 12 duels and was fouled four times, the highest tally in the match. Zaid Romero added four interceptions and completed 47 of 48 passes.
At the back, David Soria finished with the best rating on the pitch, 8 out of 10. The Getafe keeper kept a clean sheet without having to make a save from a clear chance, because Malaga never really created one.
Johan Mojica completed four crosses or corners down the left, the best total in the match. That was where most of Getafe’s threat came from, rather than anything through the middle.
Malaga sink deeper, Getafe breathe easier
The result lifts Getafe into the top half of the table, with 8 points in the live standings. Malaga remain bottom of La Liga with 3 points from seven matches. The Andalusians are still searching for a way to turn possession into real chances.
Javier Alberola Rojas took charge of a scrappy contest, broken up by fouls on both sides. Eneko Jauregi was booked in the 39th minute for repeated fouls, and Malaga finished the game without ever seriously troubling David Soria.
