Dortmund – Werder Bremen: holding the line in the race for Europe
Dortmund host Bremen at Signal Iduna Park with a simple plan: keep their edge in the fight for the Champions League. That mad 3-3 draw with Frankfurt left them second on 33 points, while Bremen drift in mid-table, twelfth with 17.
Dortmund: solid, spectacular… but sometimes too open at the back
Against Frankfurt, BVB led twice before having to snatch a draw in the 96th minute thanks to Chukwuemeka. A match that sums them up: irresistible going forward, defensively often too generous.
That draw extended their unbeaten run in the Bundesliga: nine matches without defeat, five wins and four draws. Their only blot this season remains a 2-1 loss to Bayern in October.
Up front they’re firing: at least two goals in seven of their last nine matches in all competitions.
At the back it’s more mixed: six goals conceded in the last four matches, although two clean sheets helped calm nerves.
At home, Niko Kovac is still unbeaten in the league: five wins, two draws. Signal Iduna Park remains a proper driving force.
Werder Bremen: blunt attack and worrying form
Bremen come off a sorry 0-0 with Augsburg, not hitting the target once. It was their second match running without a goal, and just three strikes in their last five outings.
Last season they even managed to get results at Dortmund twice (2-2 then 0-0). This year the story’s different: five matches without a win, three defeats and ten goals conceded.
Away form is worse: six trips without success, four of them losses.
Horst Steffen is still hunting for an answer; his side lacks cutting edge and confidence.
Probable line-ups
Borussia Dortmund:
Kobel ; Anton, Can, Schlotterbeck ; Ryerson, Sabitzer, Nmecha, Svensson ; Adeyemi, Brandt ; Guirassy

Key takeaways

- Bremen haven’t won any of their last six away trips.
- BVB score plenty but still concede too much.
- Bremen have scored just three goals in their last five matches.

Football Prediction Dortmund vs Bremen
Dortmund to win
BVB aren’t perfect at the back, but their attacking punch should be enough against a Bremen side short on ideas and fragile away from home.
First, a word on our predictions
- What we publish on Mathodds are analyses, nothing more. We give an opinion, a snapshot of the moment, but never a guarantee. Sport is what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a goal out of nowhere… and the whole script flips.
- Let’s be clear: there’s no risk-free bet. Even when something looks “obvious”, it’s not. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s bound to happen at some point.
- Best bet is to stay sensible. Stake small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live on. And don’t chase losses — it rarely ends well.
- A bet should stay a game, not a job or a source of income. If you feel it’s taking over your life, stressing you out or putting pressure on you, take a break. And if needed, talk to a specialist organisation. That’s what they’re for.
- Ultimately, the responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting the risk exists and won’t vanish, even with the best analysis.
- Essential reminder: betting is prohibited for minors and must follow your country’s laws. Gambling can spiral quickly (money losses, family tensions, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No commitment from us
Our predictions aren’t a contract. They carry no legal weight. In short: you can’t rely on them to claim anything if a bet loses.
Information that can change
A prediction is always based on what we know when we write it. But team sheets change (like Leverkusen’s), a player gets injured, the weather turns… and the analysis can become outdated fast. We can’t be held responsible for that.
Your role
