Dallas Stars – Utah Mammoth: Texas steamroller meets a wounded beast
One of the hottest teams in the league skates in tonight. Dallas just smashed a franchise mark — 15 straight regulation games without a loss. Insane run.
Trouble is, the schedule tightens up with four straight games against West playoff contenders. Dropping points now would sting. Across the ice sits a shaky Utah Mammoth. We strip the numbers and trends so you get a sharp pick for this one.
Dallas Stars operating on another level
Since the restart, Glen Gulutzan’s men have been untouchable. Riding that 15-game points streak, they just edged Detroit 3-2 in overtime at home and are now only three points off the conference lead.
The American Airlines Center has become a fortress: 10 wins in their last 11 home games. A 72.4% win rate at home slots Dallas in the NHL top three. The secret? A defence that shuts teams down, conceding just 2.61 goals per game in front of their crowd. Only sour note: the injury list is stacked. Mikko Rantanen, Roope Hintz and Radek Faksa aren’t expected back until late March. Adam Erne is also sidelined (replaced by Nathan Bastian).
Utah struggling, but fully fit
For the Mammoth it’s been grim. Andre Tourigny’s side are in their third bad patch of the season — four straight defeats. In the last week they lost twice to Chicago (2-3 in OT both times), were hammered by Minnesota (5-0) and fell to Pittsburgh (4-3). The net result: sliding from 5th to 7th in the West.
On the road they’re perfectly average, taking 50% of available points, and the numbers are flat — 2.89 goals for and 2.89 against. The real issue is the attack: they failed to score more than three goals in four of their last five road games. Unlike Dallas, Utah arrive with a full roster and no injuries. Coach Tourigny isn’t panicking and went with the exact same lineup against Pittsburgh as he did vs Chicago.

NHL Pick Dallas Stars vs Utah Mammoth
Utah Mammoth to score 3+ goals
Dallas’ winning streak owes a lot to Jake Oettinger, who hasn’t conceded more than two goals in his last three outings. But here’s the rub: this season Oettinger has pulled off similar streaks twice, only to blow up in game four — three goals allowed to Minnesota, then six to Anaheim.
And the recent history is revealing. Utah love playing Dallas: they’ve scored at least two goals in each of the last six head-to-heads (and in six of their last seven matches this season). Also, previous stretches where the Mammoth dropped four straight this year ended with offensive explosions on game five (three goals vs the Rangers, seven vs Anaheim). Everything points to Salt Lake City’s attack waking up and cracking the Texas lock tonight. Backing the visitors for at least three goals looks like the spot to take.

A quick word about our picks
- What we publish on Mathodds is analysis — nothing more. It’s our take, our snapshot. It’s not a promise. Sport is unpredictable. A red card, a sudden injury, a freak goal — the script flips in an instant.
- Let’s be blunt: no bet is risk-free. Even when something looks “obvious”, it can still go wrong. Yes, that means you can lose. It’s inevitable at some point.
- Stay sensible. Stake small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live on. And never chase losses — it almost never ends well.
- Betting should be entertainment, not a job or a revenue stream. If it’s taking over your life, stressing you out or causing problems, step back and seek help. There are organizations for that.
- Ultimately, responsibility sits with you. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and won’t vanish, even with the best analysis.
- Important reminder: betting is illegal for minors and must comply with your local laws. Gambling can spiral (money loss, family strain, addiction). Need help? Players Info Service: 09 74 75 13 13 (standard rate) https://www.gambleaware.org/.
