Dallas Mavericks – Denver Nuggets: showdown without AD or Jokic
The Mavericks and the Nuggets meet in a peculiar game: neither big man is available — Anthony Davis nor Nikola Jokic, both out injured. Dallas and Denver are scraping to stay afloat without their natural leaders. Still, this one could turn into a proper scrap between two Western Conference teams chasing very different goals.
Dallas Mavericks: they’ve gone all-in on offense
The Mavericks arrive with decent form — three wins in their last five. They edged Brooklyn (113-105) in a tight contest and beat Houston (110-104). That shows some backbone, but also a struggle to follow up against the league’s better-organised sides. Defensively, Dallas is still a work in progress. Conceding nearly 118 points a night puts them nowhere near the elite. That slack forces them to outscore opponents. Offence is where the signs are brighter.
Cooper Flagg embodies that shift. The No.1 pick is taking on more responsibility — 27 points against the Nets proved it. Perimeter shooting is improving too, with Klay Thompson finding more touch and the unit starting to space the floor better. Dallas looks ready to embrace higher-scoring affairs.
Denver Nuggets: a machine that keeps rolling
Denver sticks to the identity that’s worked the last few seasons. The win over New Orleans (122-116) was textbook: fast, offensive, contributions all over the roster. Jamal Murray took over and ran the show.
Even without Nikola Jokic, the Nuggets adapted. Ball movement stays slick, which keeps their three-point efficiency high. Running Aaron Gordon at the five gives them mobility and versatility, and it makes life messy for defenders. This patched-up collective still creates mismatches and punishes mistakes. Against a Dallas side that’s shaky in transition defence, Denver should find chances all night.
NBA Prediction Dallas Mavericks vs Denver Nuggets
Nuggets to win
Even on the road, Denver has proven it can nick big wins without Nikola Jokic (see Philadelphia and Boston). They’re more seasoned and deeper than the Mavericks, who — without Anthony Davis — will lean on Cooper Flagg to carry the offence. The Nuggets also have a shot at reclaiming second place in the Western Conference with a win, something that looked fanciful when Jokic went down in late December.

First, a word about our predictions
- What we publish on Mathodds are analyses, nothing more. We give an opinion, a snapshot of the moment. Never a guarantee. Sport is messy and unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a freak shot — everything can change in an instant.
- Let’s be blunt: there’s no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something seems “obvious”, it rarely is. Yes, that means you can lose. It will happen at some point.
- Best practice: be sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live on. And whatever you do, don’t chase losses — it almost never ends well.
- Betting should stay a pastime, not a job or a revenue stream. If it starts to take over, annoys you or stresses you out, stop. If necessary, talk to a specialist service. That’s what they’re for.
- Ultimately, the responsibility is yours. Reading our content means you accept the risk exists and never fully disappears, even with the best analysis.
- Important reminder: gambling is forbidden to minors and must comply with your local laws. Betting can go wrong fast (financial losses, family tensions, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No liability on our part
Our predictions aren’t contracts. They carry no legal weight. In plain terms: you can’t claim anything from us if a bet loses.
Information that can change
A prediction is based on what we know when we write it. Lineups change, players get hurt, conditions shift… and the analysis can become outdated fast. We can’t be held responsible for that.
Your role
Before betting, check that gambling is legal where you live. If it isn’t, that’s your responsibility, not ours.
