Talavera host Real Madrid for a night they won’t forget
Wednesday night, Talavera will have a night the club won’t forget. A third-division side, they face Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey with a spot in the next round up for grabs.
Talavera: a cup run already a success
Talavera’s run earns respect. In the first round they surprised Rayo Majadahonda (4-1). Then, in early December, Malaga fell, beaten 2-1 in a tight game.
In the league they’re steady. The recent win over Mérida keeps Talavera in the top half. Nothing flashy, but a serious team that’s hard to shift.
Founded in 2011, the club’s never reached the higher divisions. This tie with Real Madrid is a standout moment — probably the most memorable since the club began.
Talavera: one absence to manage
Suspended after his red card against Malaga, Valen Gomez won’t be involved. His absence should open the door to Arturo Molina in attack.
Montero Sergio, decisive in the previous round with two goals, should again feature on a flank. Gonzalo Di Renzo, the team’s top scorer this season, will lead the line.
Real Madrid: avoid the trap
Real Madrid approach this tie seriously, despite a busy schedule. They’re still one of the Copa del Rey favourites and know a slip-up here would make a lot of noise.
Endrick, Fran Garcia and Alvaro Carreras return from suspension. But several regular starters remain sidelined with long-term injuries.
The coach should rotate without tearing the team apart. Lunin is expected in goal, while the likes of Ceballos or Brahim Diaz could start. Young Joan Martinez might also get his first minutes.
Talavera will play with freedom, keen to enjoy the occasion. Real, even rotated, still have too many weapons to be caught out over 90 minutes.
Unless the totally unexpected happens, the visitors should reassert the hierarchy and move on in the Copa del Rey.

Football Prediction CF Talavera vs Real Madrid
Real Madrid to win by 3 goals
Real Madrid look clearly above this fourth-division side and should be able to leave with a big victory despite a shuffled squad.
First, a word about our predictions
- What we publish on Mathodds are analyses, nothing more. We share an opinion, a snapshot read, never a guarantee. Sport is what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a goal from nowhere… and the script changes completely.
- Let’s be clear: there’s no risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, it isn’t. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s inevitable at some point.
- Best policy: be sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live. And for God’s sake: don’t chase losses — it rarely ends well.
- A bet should stay a game, not a job or a source of income. If it’s taking over your life, annoying you or stressing you out, take a break. And if needed, speak to a specialised organisation. That’s what they’re there for.
- Ultimately, the responsibility’s yours. Reading our content means accepting that risk exists and it won’t disappear, even with the best analysis in the world.
- Important reminder: betting is prohibited for minors and must comply with your country’s laws. Gambling can quickly spiral (losses, family tensions, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No commitment from us
Our predictions don’t form a contract. They carry no legal weight. Plainly: you can’t rely on them to claim anything if a bet doesn’t come in.
Information can change
A prediction is based on what we know when we write it. But between then and kick-off, a lineup (like Real’s) can change, a player gets injured, the weather turns… and the analysis can quickly be out of date. We can’t be held responsible for that.
Your role
Before betting, just check that gambling’s legal where you are. If it’s not, that’s your responsibility, not ours.
Responsible gambling first
We won’t say it enough: gamble in moderation. If you struggle to keep control, don’t wait to get help. We can’t be responsible for compulsive or excessive use of the info published on the site.
