Bournemouth – Brentford: European places up for grabs — fireworks expected!

Bournemouth flirting with trouble 
Against the Black Cats last Saturday Bournemouth absolutely bossed it (21 shots, 62% possession) and still had to graft to force an equaliser. It’s Iraola’s trademark this season — they’ve nicked 15 points from losing positions. Running from behind every week can only work for so long.
Form overall is excellent: seven matches unbeaten. The snag? They draw too often — four draws in five. Defensively they’re solid right now though, conceding only three in their last four.
Most notably, Iraola has turned the Vitality into a fortress. One defeat in the last seven home games. And those visitors weren’t mugs: Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Aston Villa have all been through. Big tests, handled.
Brentford ripping it up away from home 
Brentford served up one of the season’s wildest games against Burnley: 3-0 up, pegged back to 3-3, then Mikkel Damsgaard snatched it in the 93rd. Heart-stopping stuff.
But that thriller papered over flaws. Before the fireworks the attack had been quiet. Defensively, Keith Andrews’ side have been leaking — at least two conceded in five of their last seven league games. If they want Chelsea’s sixth spot (two points clear) tightened defending is a must.
Their big edge? Maddening stats against Bournemouth. Nine meetings without defeat, including two hefty wins this season (4-1 in December, 2-0 in August).
