Boston Celtics – Toronto Raptors : Playoff teams face off
Big night at TD Garden. The Boston Celtics, third in the Eastern Conference, host the Toronto Raptors, fourth. Two of the league’s best defenses clash, both will want to send a message.
Boston Celtics : bounce back at home
The Celtics were caught off guard at home by the Nuggets, who were missing Nikola Jokic, in their last game. Probably just a hiccup in a rich run: Joe Mazzulla’s men have won eight of their last ten, climbing the East standings. A win would pull them clear of tonight’s opponents and close the gap on the Knicks in second.
Boston can lean on its long-range shooting (8th in the league at 36,9%), and its ability to shut teams down. The Celtics are one of the stingiest defenses (110.6 points allowed per game – second in the league), usually a mark of a top side. Josh Minott should be the only rotation absence.
Toronto Raptors : extend their winning run
The Raptors roll into Massachusetts full of confidence : five wins in their last six, despite Jakob Poeltl’s extended absence, he’ll be out again. Luckily for them, Boston are among the worst teams at defending the paint, which should ease the load on rookie Collin Murray-Boyles. Don’t sleep on Boston though; they have scorers like Jaylen Brown and Anfernee Simons who can punish opponents inside.
The challenge for the Raptors will be finding offense against the league’s second-best defense. The Raptors often struggle to score, they’re 23rd in scoring this season (114,0 points per game). Too often passive, waiting for a Brandon Ingram moment. Against Boston, that could get ugly fast.
NBA Prediction Boston Celtics vs Toronto Raptors
Under 225,5 points
Both the Raptors and the Celtics win with defense. Don’t expect a shootout, expect a grind between two of the East’s best. Both squads have top-end offensive weapons, but this looks likely to be played at a steady, controlled pace.

First, a word on our predictions
- What we publish on Mathodds is analysis, nothing more. It’s an opinion, a read of the moment, not a guarantee. Sport stays what it is: unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a freak goal… and the script flips.
- Let’s be clear: there’s no such thing as a risk-free bet. Even when something looks “obvious”, it rarely is. Yes, that means you can lose. It’s inevitable at some point.
- The smart move is to be reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live on. And don’t chase losses — it usually ends badly.
- Betting should stay a game, not a job or a source of income. If it takes over your life, annoys you or stresses you out, take a break. If needed, talk to a specialised organisation. That’s what they’re there for.
- At the end of the day, responsibility is yours. Reading our content means you accept the risk exists and it never goes away, even with the best analysis in the world.
- Essential reminder: betting is banned for minors and must comply with your country’s laws. Gambling can spiral (money losses, family tensions, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No commitment from us
Our picks aren’t a contract. They carry no legal weight. In short: you can’t rely on them to claim anything if a bet loses.
Information can change
A prediction is based on what we know when we write it. In the meantime a lineup (like the Celtics’) can change, a player can get injured, the weather can shift… and the analysis can become outdated. We can’t be held responsible for that.
