Nick Kyrgios has been quiet on the ATP tour for a while. He hasn’t gone away. After months of uncertainty, the former Wimbledon finalist has finally given an update on his comeback — and it’s going to be highly targeted.
Injured in the wrist since 2023, Kyrgios is moving carefully now. The aim isn’t to play every week; it’s to pick the right events and protect the body.

Gradual comeback after a long layoff
Since the wrist problem, Kyrgios has barely been on court. Once one of the most explosive players around, he’s struggled to find the consistency that used to make him so dangerous.
2022 was his peak — he reached the Wimbledon final and looked every bit a serious threat to the big names. Since then, injuries have slowed things down. A brief return in Brisbane in early 2026 teased a comeback, then a doubles spot at the Australian Open — and then silence.
Eyes on the grass season
It was an Instagram Q&A that finally gave a hint about his schedule.
The message was simple: wait until summer.
“I’ll play the grass season and the UTS events,” Kyrgios said, confirming he doesn’t expect to be back on the ATP tour before June.
Makes sense. Grass is where his serve and attacking style do the most damage.
The UTS circuit — a format that suits him
Kyrgios also plans to play on the UTS circuit, the competition set up by Patrick Mouratoglou. Shorter matches, more spectacle, built for quick, crowd-pleasing tennis.
That’s precisely his scene. Fewer long runs, more show, and a tempo that better fits a body that’s still fragile.
The message is clear: he’ll come back on his terms.
And if his wrist holds up, grass could once again be the stage for those flashes of genius.
