The Miami Masters 1000 will go ahead without Novak Djokovic. The Serb has pulled out with a right-shoulder injury, bringing his hard-court season to an abrupt halt after his exit at Indian Wells.
His absence could rock the ATP rankings.

Injury halts his U.S. swing
After losing in the last 16 at Indian Wells to Jack Draper, Djokovic was due in Miami — the second half of the Sunshine Double. Short turnaround. Big expectations.
But the ex-world No. 1 has pulled the plug. Organisers confirmed the withdrawal, citing a right-shoulder issue.
At nearly 39, he’s clearly not gambling with his body while the season shifts to the clay swing.

A tournament he usually owns
This matters because Miami is one of his best hunting grounds.
He’s won it six times — one of the tournament’s all-time leaders. Last year he still made the final before losing to surprise package Jakub Mensik in two tight tiebreaks.
This isn’t some minor scratch. It’s a blip at a place where he’s normally untouchable.
Direct hit to the ATP rankings
The withdrawal carries an immediate ranking cost.
As last year’s finalist, Djokovic was defending 650 points. Skip Miami and those points vanish.
That should be enough to cost him third spot in the world — and hand it to Alexander Zverev.
Goal: back for the clay season
Simple question now: how long will he stay off court?
For the moment his camp is cautious. The plan is to return for the clay swing ahead of the French Open.
At this stage of his career, managing the schedule is everything. Every choice is aimed at one thing now: being at his best for the big events.
