ATP: Holger Rune back on clay and already eyeing the French Open

Holger Rune is back on court. After a rough few days and a messy trip home from Qatar, the Dane has finally returned to training in Monaco. It’s a cautious comeback — rehab work mixed with first hits on clay — but it’s a big step for the former world No. 4.

Goal: be fit for the European clay season.

Back in Monaco after a chaotic scramble

The last few days haven’t been straightforward for Rune. While in Qatar, the Dane found himself stranded when regional airspace was closed amid geopolitical tensions.

He couldn’t leave immediately. Rune had to wait before he could get back to Monaco, where he lives for much of the year.

An unexpected setback that delayed his prep, but it hasn’t dented his motivation.

First hits on clay

Back in the principality, Rune wasted no time getting back on court. Spotted doing rehab work, he also managed a few balls on clay.

For now the work is light. The aim is to rebuild feel and slowly get his body back in shape.

But simply picking up a racquet again is a positive sign for those around him.

The French Open on his radar

Rune has already said he wants to return to competition at the French Open.

It’s an ambitious call. At this stage it’s still uncertain and will depend on how his recovery progresses over the next few weeks.

One thing’s clear: the Dane wants to close this chapter and get back on tour quickly.

And with the European clay swing approaching, Rune hopes to be at his best as the season hits its most intense phase.
