AS Monaco were PSG’s nearest challengers not long ago, but a run of poor results has shoved the Principality club off the podium. Paris, while far from perfect, will settle for the current momentum given they’re missing several key players.

Monaco are going through a rough patch, and the Ligue 1 form proves it. Sebastien Pocognoli’s men have lost three league games on the bounce, a worrying run capped by heavy 4-1 defeats to Lens and Rennes. Defence is the obvious problem: 25 goals conceded in 13 matches makes them the worst backline among the top half.

European action hasn’t helped morale either. Despite goals from Minamino and Balogun against Pafos, a late own goal cost them two points, and the team looks shaky when it matters. They can’t handle quick transitions, which is worse given so many regulars are missing.

Another worry: Monaco have been leaking goals to PSG in recent years. They’ve conceded at least four in three of the last five meetings across all competitions, and the last three duels add up to 9-3 in Paris’ favour. Hard to face this one calmly.

PSG come in hot, both in Ligue 1 and the Champions League. That 5-3 thriller against Tottenham this week put them back on top of their group, highlighted by a brilliant Vitinha hat-trick and a strong team display despite a chaotic start. They showed they can respond and turn games around.

In the league, PSG have won three straight, including a tidy 3-0 at Le Havre in their last domestic outing. Their dominance isn’t as crushing as some expected in August, but Luis Enrique’s side keep getting results and haven’t lost in eight rounds. The attack’s firing, the technical quality is there, and their attacking patterns are getting sharper week by week.

Away from home, Paris are broadly reliable, and their nerve in key moments keeps them atop the table despite pressure from Marseille and Lens. Against a Monaco defence this fragile and depleted, the edge clearly goes to Paris.

PSG to win

Monaco give away too much, and often in bunches, while PSG arrive brimming with confidence and a firing attack. Both sides love a spectacle, but the current gap in form and defensive solidity leaves little doubt.

First: a word about our predictions

  • What we publish on Mathodds are analyses, nothing more. We share an opinion, a snapshot of the moment, never a guarantee. Sport is unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a freak goal… and the script flips completely.
  • Let’s be clear: there’s no risk-free bet. Even when it looks “obvious”, nothing really is. Yes, that means you can lose. It’s inevitable at some point.
  • Best to stay sensible. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live. And for God’s sake: don’t chase losses, it rarely ends well.
  • Betting should stay a pastime, not a job or a source of income. If it’s taking over your life, getting you wound up or putting you under pressure, take a break. If needed, talk to a specialist organisation. That’s what they’re there for.
  • Ultimately, responsibility lies with you. Reading our content means accepting the risk exists and won’t disappear, even with the best analysis.
  • Reminder: betting is forbidden to minors and must comply with your country’s law. Gambling can spiral out of control (money loss, family tension, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.

No commitment from us

Our predictions aren’t a contract. They carry no legal weight. In short: you can’t rely on them to claim anything if a bet loses.

Info that changes

A tip is always based on what we know when we write it. But line-ups change (like PSG’s), a player gets injured, the weather turns… and the analysis can quickly be outdated. We can’t be held responsible for that.

Your role

Before betting, just check that gambling is legal where you are. If it’s not, that’s your responsibility, not ours.
