Angola – Egypt: one last, decisive step in Group B
The curtain falls on Group B at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations as Angola meet Egypt on Monday at Stade Adrar. Momentum’s flipped: the Pharaohs are already through and can afford to manage the game. For the Palancas Negras there’s no arithmetic left. They must win, and hope.
Angola: go all out, no holding back
This isn’t the script Angola wanted. After a promising run in the last edition, Patrice Beaumelle’s side are up against the wall. A defeat to South Africa, then a frustrating draw with Zimbabwe, has shredded their margins.
Against the Warriors, Angola still showed intent. Gelson Dala opened the scoring, only for the balance to be ruined by an equaliser just before half-time. Inconsistency like that hurts when you come to the final match.
Defensively the warning lights are on. Angola concede regularly and will have to push up, even if it means leaving themselves exposed. At this point the risk is taken: only a win keeps them alive.
Egypt: finish cleanly
Egypt haven’t steamrolled their first two games, but they’ve been deadly efficient. Two matches, two wins, qualification already secured. Mohamed Salah has again carried the leadership, tipping each match the right way.
The win over South Africa, earned from a penalty in a tense contest, proved the Pharaohs’ mental steel. The performance can be tidied up, sure, but the result gives them more freedom going into the final day.
Hossam Hassan won’t relax the leash. Top spot is still attainable and a win would see them into the last 16 with confidence and momentum.
Likely lineups
Angola: Marques, Mata, Buatu, Carmo, Carneiro, Mukendi, Show, Benson, Fredy, Dala, Nzola
Egypt: El-Shenawy, Hamdi, Rabia, Fathy, Ibrahim, Ashour, Trezeguet, Attia, Zizo, Marmoush, Salah
Key takeaways
- Angola can’t afford mistakes.
- Egypt are through but still going for top spot.
- The Palancas Negras will have to take risks.
- Salah has been decisive since the start of the tournament.

Football Prediction Angola vs Egypt
Both teams to score
Angola will be forced to push forward to chase a result, which could open spaces for an Egyptian side very comfortable in transition. In that tense setting, a both-teams-score outcome looks plausible.
First, a word on our predictions
- What we publish on Mathodds are analyses, nothing more. We share an opinion, a snapshot reading, never a guarantee. Sport stays unpredictable. A red card, an injury, a goal from nowhere… and the whole scenario flips.
- Let’s be clear: there’s no risk-free bet. Even when something seems “obvious”, nothing really is. And yes, that means you can lose. It’s inevitable at some point.
- Best approach is to be reasonable. Bet small, set a budget and stick to it. Don’t touch money you need to live on. And don’t chase losses — it almost never ends well.
- Betting should stay a game, not a job or a source of income. If it takes over your life, annoys you, or puts you under pressure, take a break. If needed, talk to a specialist organisation. That’s what they’re for.
- Ultimately, the responsibility is yours. Reading our content means accepting the risk exists and won’t disappear, even with the best analysis in the world.
- Essential reminder: betting is forbidden to minors and must comply with your country’s law. Gambling can spiral (money losses, family tensions, addiction). Need Help? Call 1-800-GAMBLER. In the UK? Visit https://www.gambleaware.org/https://www.gambleaware.org/.
No commitment from us
Our predictions don’t make a contract. They carry no legal weight. Plain and simple: you can’t rely on them to claim anything if a bet loses.
Info can change
A prediction is based on what we know when we write it. But between now and kick-off a lineup changes, a player gets injured, the weather turns… and the analysis can be obsolete in a heartbeat. We can’t be held responsible for that.
Your role
Before betting, just check that gambling is legal where you are. If it’s not, that’s your responsibility, not ours.
